Build Relationships
Creating a strong sense of community.
We know that building a sense of belonging is key to helping students thrive in a new environment. That’s why Student Affairs created premier programs that help students get established with campus and community groups.
We have inclusive residential housing communities for all types of students, ages, and preferences, and are building another 1,475 first-year student beds with the goal of housing all first and second-year students. Why? Because we know that students who lived on campus their first two years received higher GPA’s compared to their student counterparts who lived off campus.
Our New Student and Transition Programs organizes our nationally recognized Week of Welcome (WOW), Open House, and summer orientation program (SLO Days). These student-run programs are essential to getting students prepared for the rigors and challenges of college life, and helps them build lasting relationships and support networks, which are critical to their success.
The Parent and Family Programs is every parent and supporter’s gateway to getting connected with the Cal Poly community. They offer a wide variety of resources and social engagements to stay connected and informed like Mustang Family Weekend, the Parent Advisory Council, parent and student philanthropy opportunities, and online social networks.
