Sharon Armstrong

Mrs. Sharon Armstrong is married to Cal Poly President Jeffrey D. Armstrong. As first lady of Cal Poly, Mrs. Armstrong provides support for President Armstrong, assisting in his role as university ambassador and host and interacting with students. Born in Bridgeton, New Jersey, Mrs. Armstrong spent summers working for Asgrow Seed Co., formerly a subsidiary of Upjohn. Her interest in agriculture led her to Murray State University to earn an agriculture degree with a horticulture emphasis. After graduating and getting married, she worked for the state of North Carolina, inspecting products marketed by seed producers and distributors to ensure quality control. When she and her husband moved to Purdue University, she took a similar post with the state of Indiana and later as an analyst for the Michigan Crop Improvement Association, a nonprofit agency that promotes the production and use of improved seed stock and serves as Michigan’s official seed certification agency.

Mrs. Armstrong is engaged with students and serves as a volunteer employee for Cal Poly. She is co-chair of the Campus Wellbeing Committee and volunteers at French Hospital in San Luis Obispo. The Armstrong’s have two children -- a daughter, Jessica, and son, Zachary. Mrs. Armstrong enjoys traveling, reading, knitting and walking her dog, Musty.
